Red Root Floaters - $3 (Winston Salem)

Plants are dime-sized with 2-3 leaves each. Great to start with a few as these floaters can quickly multiply under the right conditions.
Grow them under bright light for long hours and you get a beautiful red hue. I’ve attached photos of mine to show sizing and color variations. The summer weather change indoors is turning mine gradients of green, pink and red. Expect these to be fully red when exposed to bright open light like ponds or LEDs lit very closely to them (like my tank in winter).
I keep these in my shrimp tanks to help keep the water clean, but also to give my shrimplets a place to safely graze. Their roots don’t stretch down the way other floaters might which give you a more open view of the aquarium with all the benefits of floaters.

* Tanks also include neocaridina shrimp, nerite, bladder and ramshorn snails. Please be mindful of this if you're finicky about "pest" snails. For us they're friends who help keep our tank clean as part of a healthy ecosystem.
* You can also do a dip to wash the plants. I’ve done the diluted hydrogen peroxide dip method for a few minutes for dwarf water lettuce but will destroy red floaters as they’re more delicate. Hope this helps!
