Echinacea purpurea/Coneflower is a perennial native to the US. It attracts many different species of butterflies.
This type of coneflower grows up to 4 feet tall so space plants 18-24 inches apart. They're propagated by seed and division and are very low maintenance.
Germination instructions: Sow in the winter or cold stratify seeds for 1 month to simulate winter conditions (To cold stratify: Place seeds in moist paper towel, place paper towel in ziploc bag, place bag contents into the refrigerator). Echinacea naturally have a lower germination rate however, cold stratifying the seeds will increase the germination numbers. Once cold stratified, place seeds on soil surface by gently pressing them into the soil as they require sunlight to germinate. Keep seeds and soil moist during the germination phase.
You will receive 100 seeds (see photos 3 & 4) although I always throw in extra. I mail them out in a regular stamped envelope so there is no charge for shipping, or you're welcome to stop by and pick them up. Make sure to check out my other indoor and outdoor plant and seed listings.
