Custom job RV more comfortable than an Airstream more torque than a Winnebago...
7.5L (460 cu in) V8 (discontinued in 1980, returned in 1983) 3-speed automatic (C6)
This is a good investment and project i started, but cant finish due to time and money and I'm not scrapping it for metal because the engine is fair and i'm not going to let it go to waist. "But its a fun project if you just need or want something constructive to do!"
I Have about $3,500 in it. $500 in the renovations so "The starting price is $2,500" and will settle on a "OBO" if it comes to it, and I'll show you how to get your money back out of it if necessary. Worst case scenario do the math, Steel $0.7 lb. x 14000 lb. = $980 and most metal guys will let you keep the box and tires.
Its an all around good investment because it can always be used for storage and sell the frame for metal "Bar None!!!".
With a 8'x16' Box that is insulated with R24 Insulation "Not R13" You Can say its pretty much double insulated.
You can not even get a Shed or RV for this price. Even at Home Dept. for less than a $1000, and it only has around 100,000 miles on it. It was used as a Tool Truck taken to Job Sites and parked, and that was it. "That's why its milage is s low!"
If you want your money out of it "Whenever! perhaps after you run it to death!": "I just don't have the time or i would!"
1. Unbolt the Box from the Cab and cut the U-Bolts holding it. "You can pull it off with a Dog to Cinder Blocks" That's a shed or Camper you can use or sell for $500-1,000+, at that point you can make a Roll Back out of it and make a butt load of money with it because the Engine and Tranny only have about a 100,000 miles on it.
2. They build "Drag Cars" with the Engine Block & Transmission, and Components so you can use or sell them for $1,000+ "I mean this thing can go!, Lots of torque screw a Winnebago!"
3. The Back Dually Tires are Fairly New you can use or sell for $300-500+
4. Take the Gas Tanks off and use them for Oil Drums by Welding a pump to them and Framing them, you can use them or sell them for $100-200 each.
5. Sale the frame for metal that's got to be $300-400
6. Clean and sale the Mini-Fridge, Microwave, HDTV, Coffee Pot, and shelves as well as the remaining property in it for $200-300
That's around $3,000 your pretty much guarantied its an all around good investment, especially if you use it for storage "I cant stand those storage facility's you rent, people work very hard for their stuff and have a lot of sentimental property "I cant stand to see them lose it!", just to be sold at auction when the cant pay for their units" "Buy this and park it on family or a friends land!!!"
Problems and Potential problems:
Your going to have to clean it up and out, "Not Much Work!"
If the seals are bad and i doubt it its been cranked an ran 4yrs ago, you would have to rebuild the Engine or buy a rebuilt one, their $700-1000, knowing this engine is fair that's $700 there. and i know when autos set that long things do go bad so you should only be looking at a hose or two. I know i put Anti-Freeze in it so the block should not be rusted, if it has some how? Your gonna have to clean the coolant system out. The Truck cut off so i assumed i ran the gas out of it "If" i didn't you might have to rebuild the carburetor.
If you want the gate down to lock it your going to have to go to Home Dpt., and get some Matric acid to take off the Great stuff. "I would use Eye Protection and Rubber Gloves" or have at it with a Screw Driver and a Box Cutter. It needs a battery, but you can get one at Battery Barn in Elkin N.C. for a fair price.
The back right boards have some water damage, so i would get some of that plastic wood i forget its name "Starts with a p" Then screw it down to the planks near the door and a few planks before the damaged ones, Problem solved!, Needs 3x 8' rows of insulation your gonna have to get, and 2 8'x8' boards "That comes with" screwed up with Self Taping Tech Screws your gonna have to get.
You need to clean the old A/C with Coil Cleaner "It's in O.K. shape or replace it, sale the old one "It's still good!", and put a hose on it to the ground that's what got the planks. The Heater is Broken, Just replace it "I cant figure that one out!" I've been using Drop Cords in the RV, But it comes with a roll of MC Cable, Etc. "If you want to wire it permanently!" The Microwave is great but it needs to be cleaned and needs a rotating plate, but i have used it without it.
and i had to use an Interior Door as an Exterior Door i would recommend a Solid Wood Exterior door with a Dead Bolt "I've had tools stolen out of it among a few other things" other than that its very secure. The Door frame needs some wood filer on it where the lock wasn't installed right "I would Just move the dead bolt up" I'm offering Two other screwed up doors with it you might could use "if" you would like them. You need to replace the front tires, you can get a "decent" used pair at Baitty Tire in Yadkinville for $30 apiece. It comes with an awesome HDTV but you have to power cycle the thing when it doesn't cut back on, or replace it.
It has no plumbing but don't fret you can fill up gallons of water in bottles, use a Washboard/Clothes Line, and use a 5 gallon Bucket to Poop!, But most Camp Grounds especially K.O.A. have facilities for you!
O.K. Here is the kicker! you knew it was coming. The keys were left at my Girlfriends house, but "It was worth the shag!!!, Damn Good!!!" so when we split she tossed them, I called the previous owner Bill Minton and the "Only!" set of keys were given t me and he will vouch its a good vehicle the numbers on the side! so your going to have to get a locksmith to make a set of keys or just get a door key made and replace the switch which is probably cheaper!, although the doors are unlocked. To just plain tow it get a screwdriver and pop out the drive shaft. Then "We" can get the "Title" out of the glove Box so we can go get the sell notarized and your going to have t pay for it. Bill was a notary republic, so The Title is in my name, but i still might have to send it to Raleigh. "I'll work with you and if your going to scrap the thing, ill just pop the glove box with a Jimmy/Screw Driver and it will break it" Other than that it should be Good!!! and, your going to have to tow it or get it Road Worthy. "Can sit where its at until you do, free of charge!"
Also i would get a Solar or Diesel Generator for it and paint it.!!! "Congratulations your a home owner! and you have a ride, take it to work and be Johnny on the Spot! and get a lot more pay!"
If i don't get an offer for at least $1000, don't bother contacting me, because I'm keeping it knowing i can get that from a friend scraping it. I want someone to have a good vehicle and/or home.
