People can flag me all they want but I will not be silenced. Pets are not disposable objects. Do your research before adopting a pet. Don't get rid of one just because it's not a cute baby anymore as all of them grow into adults. Make sure you can care for your pet before you go looking for one. Don't get rid of your pet in its last few years of life as it's a cold hard fact that an elderly animal is the least likely to be adopted in shelters. I have no issue with breeders posting here or the dire situations where the owner has tried every other option. I'm deeply disturbed by those who rehome animals because of moving, allergies, "it's not working out" and other reasons along that line.
You can find housing or rentals that accept pets and enough that won't charge a pet deposit. You can get an allergy test done before you adopt and use medication to treat your symptoms, although you may have to experiment to find the right combination. It's not working out doesn't work as an excuse. If you have a dog train it what you expect or if you don't know how then sign up for an obedience class. Don't expect your animal to behave like a dog when it's a cat, it just won't happen.
Having a pet isn't all fun and games-there will be lots of fun and play with a pet-but responsibility as well. Just think it through thoroughly, that animal's life is in your hands and I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to throw you away when you're no longer cute. Thanks.
